Camogie Association Secures 'Gala' Commitment for All-Ireland Championships
At the launch of this year's Gala All-Ireland Camogie Championships, Gala, Ireland's fastest growing convenience retailer of the last decade, announced it's to sponsor the Gala All-Ireland Championships (inclusive of the Senior, Intermediate and Junior championships) for a further three years. This secures the partnership until the end of the 2010 Championships.
The six-figure sum further reinforces Gala's commitment to one of Ireland's most indigenous Irish female sports and is reflective of how successful the association has been for the Group.
2008 is the Group's 10th year in business and Gala CEO, Gary Desmond, comments:
"Our award-wining partnership with the Camogie Association has been an overwhelming success for the Group and raised brand awareness to an all time high. The Gala Group stores fully support our association as many of our retailers' staff, shoppers, family and friends have close ties with Camogie, an iconic female sport. Gala's network of stores spans towns and cities across Ireland, and this synergy with the Camogie Association is where the sponsorship's success lies.
"We're looking forward to this year's championship after 2010's closely contested senior and junior finals and the record attendance at Croke Park. Similar to Camogie, Gala's profile is growing year-on-year. This year will be a milestone for the Group as it celebrates eleven years in business.
"A fully-integrated marketing plan, including Gala's sponsorship of the National Event Guide on TV3, a corporate social responsibility campaign, and major 10th birthday promotion, make this an exciting year for our retailers".
At the launch of the Gala All-Ireland Camogie Championship, President of the Camogie Association, Joan O'Flynn, was joined by the captains and managers of all 27 counties competing in this year's Championships.
Congratulations to Offaly on winning the Junior Championship
The Gala Group employs over 3,000 people in both retail and wholesale operations, with projected Group retail sales in 2008 expected to be in excess of €550 million.
